In short

Gravensmoor has no accounts and no servers of its own. We don’t collect your name, email or anything else about you, and we don’t sell your personal information. Your journey stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account, where only you and Apple hold it. Ads come from Google AdMob, and only play when you choose to watch one.

Who we are

Maple Drift Studios is the name under which Rodrigo Paulo Quaresma, an independent developer in Canada, makes games; it isn’t a company. Rodrigo makes Gravensmoor, is responsible for this policy and for the game’s own handling of your information, and is the person in charge of privacy (the privacy officer), reachable at the address under Contact.

Your journey

Your journey, road medals, guardian rush times and settings are saved on your device. With iCloud saves on (Options → iCloud saves; on unless you turn it off) and iCloud signed in, a copy is kept in your own iCloud account so they follow you to your other devices, and your journey can be carried on from any of them. That copy is stored by Apple under your Apple Account; we can’t see it and never receive it. Play statistics aren’t copied: they stay on the device. Your data is also included in your device’s own backups (such as iCloud Backup). Deleting the game deletes what’s on the device; the iCloud copy can be removed in your device’s iCloud storage settings.

Ads (Google AdMob)

The game is free, and in shops, kitchens and forges you can watch a short ad for a keeper’s gift (Pip’s Patrons get the gifts with no ad). Ads only play when you tap a button that says so, and they’re limited to content rated PG, suitable for ages 9 and up. To show ads, Google collects your IP address and approximate location (never your precise location), identifiers for your device, how you interact with ads, and crash and performance data. Google decides how it uses this data, under its own privacy policy, and is responsible for that use; we never receive it. Gravensmoor never asks for permission to track you across other companies’ apps and websites, so Google doesn’t get your device’s advertising identifier from it. Google may process this data on servers outside your country, under its own safeguards. Google’s use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Ad consent

In the EU, the UK and other regions that require it, you’re asked for consent before any ad is loaded, and ads are shown only with your consent there; if you don’t give it, you may get limited ads or none at all, and the rest of the game is the same. Everywhere, ads are always non-personalized: Google chooses them from the game and the moment, not from what it knows about you from other apps or websites, and never uses your device’s advertising identifier. Wherever the law gives you a choice, an Ad privacy option appears in the game’s Options, where you can change it at any time.

If you live in the United States

We don’t sell personal information for money. Under some state privacy laws (such as California’s), letting Google show ads in the game may count as “sharing” personal information for targeted advertising. You can opt out of that sharing from Options → Ad privacy. In the last twelve months, the only personal information involved was what Google collects to show ads, listed above; we don’t receive or keep any of it ourselves.

Purchases

The game’s one purchase, Pip’s Patron, is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details; the game only learns whether you own it.

Game Center

If you’re signed in to Game Center, your achievements and guardian rush times are sent to Apple’s Game Center and shown to other players according to your Game Center settings.

Statistics

The game counts things like time played and roads attempted and cleared on your device, to help us balance it. These counts stay on your device and are never sent to us. If you’ve chosen to share data with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple gives us anonymous totals such as installs and crashes.

Children

Gravensmoor is a general-audience game and isn’t directed at children under 13. The game itself collects nothing from anyone, and its ads are limited to content rated PG, suitable for ages 9 and up.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe, the LGPD in Brazil, Canada’s privacy laws or US state laws), you may have the right to know what personal information is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of its sharing for advertising. Because we hold no personal information about you, there’s nothing for us to send or delete; to withdraw ad consent or opt out, use Options → Ad privacy in the game, and for the data Google holds, see Google’s policy linked above. You won’t be treated differently for using these rights. If you have a question or a complaint, write to us; in Europe you can also contact your local data protection authority.

Your choices

You can play the whole game without watching an ad, change your ad choices from Options where it applies, reset your advertising settings in your device’s Settings, turn iCloud saves off in Options to keep everything on this device, or delete the app to remove everything stored on your device.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear here with a new date.
